Opening Catamaran to bring tourists to the tuna farms of Ametlla de Mar

The opening travel, Tuna Tour served to give out to 1 st Gastronomic week of Bluefin Mediterranean Tuna in Ametlla de Mar and was attended by general consul of Japan in Catalunya, Hidehiro Tsubaki, the mayor of Ametlla de Mar, Andreu Martí; various xeff of japanese food as Nandu Jubany (Can Jubany) and Hideki Matsuhisa (Koy Sunka).
Grup Balfegó, dedicated to fishing and marketing of bluefin tuna, launched this new initiative of ecotourism with the aim of enhance the attractiveness of Ametlla de Mar as a leisure destination and show, through a boat trip, the world of bluefin tuna: history, fishing, the care, research and the gastronomic value of this specie, as well as a sustainable and responsible business model with this specie. The Tuna Tour ( http://www.tuna-tour.com/ ) will allow people who wishes to see the feeding process, control and care of bluefin tuna, and even swim between these specimens. Acording to Juan Serrano, general manager of Grup Balfegó, "we are talking about a fourth generation tourism, used to consume entertainment and live unusual experiences, not overcrowded places and places to acquire knowledge and culture of this place. This is what we offer on this project. We bring tuna arround the world and now we want that those who consume our tuna can come to Ametlla de Mar, know where the tuna comes, because it's here and the responsibles we are to make this resource sustainable for future generations".
For his part, Manel Balfegó, copresident of Group talked about oportunity for tourism and gastronomic sector, and explained that, "is a real challenger for us, because we come from fishing world and we have introduced to the tourism world, until now unknown for us. We learned of great professionals to meet the challenger and to sell large quantities of tour packages this summer. We hope this goes well, because it is maritime, tourist, fishing and gastronomic tour. It has a bit of each one".
The opening of Tuna Tour opens the First Week of Bluefin Tuna of Ametlla de Mar, which celebrates until 6th May, and it adds to the maritime adventure guided visits totuna boats, gastronomic activities with known xeffs that will prepare their best bluefin tuna recipes, as well as swimming endurance sport events.
Today 3rd maay is dedicated to live cooking shows. The best catalan xeffs, as Toni Bru (Celler de l'Aspic), Joan Bosch (Can Bosch), Carles Gaig (Gaig), Orel Castro (elBulli Foundation) and Ángel Camacho (Watatshumi ), will showa wide variety of ways and tricks about how to make the most of Bluefin Tuna. Tomorrow will be the turn of local xeffs of Ametlla. A total of 6 xefs of town will show their good work in the kitchen, where combine the popular and traditional acquis of Ametlla with the most innovation and modern techniques.
